The Unusual Tale of a Puppy Born with a Unique Appearance and a Singular Eye

When this puppy was born with a mutated appearance, featuring only one eye, it instilled fear in everyone.

The birth of puppies with just one eye is often perceived as a fortunate sign, revealing some of nature’s surprising and entirely unexpected events. Such is the case with this cub, affectionately dubbed a “real-life giant,” born in Chachoengsao, central Thailand, with a solitary eye positioned in the center of its skull.

Somjai Phummamang, 45, and his wife, Ampham, 49, decided to share photos of their new pet on social media, capturing the hearts of hundreds of people.

Discovering an astonishing mutation in one of the puppies born on February 2, after placing them in a basket,

Somjai observed the small “cyclops” dog with its mother and sibling, Mah, in one of the photographs.

Two days later, it was determined that the dog was healthy. Given his unique condition, his human parents chose to bottle-feed him daily since birth, intending to keep him as a pet until he matures.

Residents visiting Somjai’s home noted the puppy’s resemblance to characters from the popular cartoon film Minions, leading him to name the pup Kevin after one of them.

“Everyone has been astonished by the puppy and believes it’s a lucky sign,” remarked Somjai.

Following the spread of the story, neighbors gathered at Somjai’s house to meet the lucky puppy, considering his birth date as a day to play the lottery.

Somjai’s daughter, Parn, expressed the family’s joy over having a puppy with this unique condition,

emphasizing that Kevip’s ability to see with his one eye is uncertain as it typically takes two months for a dog’s eyesight to fully mature.

“We’ve been taking wonderful care of the puppy thus far. Because his mother is unable to effectively nurse him, we must bottle-feed him,” explained Parn.

Although several acquaintances expressed a desire to take the cub home, Somjai prefers to nurture him with his wife. Thai villagers consider themselves fortunate to have this “unique” puppy in their community.
